Rebecca assists clients in a wide range of immigration and refugee law matters, including refugee claims, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments, applications for permanent residence (including through family
sponsorship and based on Humanitarian & Compassionate grounds), and mandamus applications.
Rebecca also focuses on comprehensive representation in immigration matters spanning work and study permits, citizenship, and more, with experience representing both employers and individuals. Rebecca is
a client-centered lawyer with a track record of successful written and oral advocacy.
Rebecca previously represented clients in immigration matters at Yale Law School’s Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic and in income security matters as a staff attorney at Legal Aid DC.
Rebecca served as a Research Coordinator for the Immigration Policy Tracking Project, a compilation of every Trump administration immigration policy designed to serve as a resource for advocates.
Rebecca is also passionate about access to justice, having previously volunteered with Community Legal Education Ontario to assist with increasing the usability of Steps to Justice, an online legal resource.
While living in Washington, D.C., Rebecca was active in advocacy to improve access to justice at the tribunal level: Rebecca testified before the D.C. Council on issues related to the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), served on an OAH Access to Justice working group, and was appointed by the Mayor to
serve on the OAH Advisory Committee.
Rebecca received her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, where she was an editor on the Yale Law Journal. Rebecca received the Stephen J. Massey Prize for clinical work on behalf of clients. Prior to receiving her law degree, Rebecca graduated with a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Dalhousie University and the University of King’s College, where she was awarded the Eric Dennis Gold Medal in Political Science and the University Medal in Contemporary Studies.
Rebecca is called to the Bar of Ontario and is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Rebecca is a member of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers and the Refugee Lawyers Association of Ontario. She is empaneled with Legal Aid Ontario for Refugee and Refugee Appeal cases.
